Last week was a crazy busy day for all of us in the KD studio. Our main focus was to shoot the new Spring Summer collection along with making videos on hair and make up and taking outside shots to showcase the collection.
My first job of the day was to quickly pop into high street stores to pick up grey sweatshirts and a few bits for our photoshoot in the afternoon. When I got to the studio, Kirsty asked me to set up a little backdrop for our vlogs, so I decided to opt for our cute little white table and chair and I added in plants and some decor and a few magazines.
When the make up artist and hairdresser arrived, they got straight to work on our models Beth and Carly. I especially loved seeing and learning about creating the perfect, super dewy and summer skin glow by April Kitchen. The make up was natural and bronzy, highlighting all the models gorgeous features. The Laura Geller highlighter was my fave product – I am obsessed with highlighter and she created an unreal look. We also had the pleasure of seeing Lacey work her magic on hair focusing on how to create simple and stylish hairstyles that people could easily do themselves or have a friend help them do. One of the hairstyles that I absolutely loved was the slick pony with loose curls and a middle part. Such a simple but effortless and glam look as all you need to add detail is a hair wrap. Whether it’s a piece of fabric or suede wrap, I was fascinated by how easy the look came to life and added a touch of elegance and sparkle.
Time went so fast and the most funniest but nerve wracking part was the fact that the seamstresses and Kirsty were still making most of the collection up to the 4pm deadline (don’t worry, you’ll be happy to know that all the pieces were made for our shoot). As our photographer Chloe arrived at 4pm, we still wanted to do some outside shots with a few key pieces of the new collection. So me and Sarah went outside and lucky for us, we had about two minutes of sun which was enough to capture a few shots of the must-have rose gold sequin trousers which we paired with a grey sweatshirt, creating a more relaxed street style. The sun done it's job and the trousers sparkled! We quickly came back to the studio and assisted with shooting the collection in just a few hours. I was impressed with how well we actually accomplished and we literally flew through the shots, accessorising the looks from star and moon earrings to statement chokers from Self Same.
After this hectic whirlwind of running back and forth of completing many tasks of the day, our final thing to box off was to do a location shoot in Love Thy Neighbour on Bold Street. Not only does the restaurant serve delicious and super amazing food and smoothies but we got the opportunity to shoot in their basement. I loved the décor in there, the palm tree wallpaper, tall mirrors, plants and cushions gave us Miami vibes and it was the perfect location to do a few campaign shots. What I loved the most was how much the mermaid trousers and skirt suited the backdrop and made them pop. A huge job well done by Chloe who must have been exhausted but it was definitely worth it for the shots!
The day may have been long and definitely crazy but I had the most gorgeous day working with an amazing team and meeting our goals. Absolutely UNREAL! I loved how much we pushed on and how good our work ethic was - Girl power all the way!
